An owl that was thought to have died was brought back to the land of the living thanks to a hairdryer.

The bird, a screech owl, was found by residents in Palo Alto, California, who alerted local animal control officers.

According to an Instagram post from Palo Alto Animal Control (PAAC), the owl was in such a bad way officers thought it had died.

But the owl was warmed up with a hairdryer and placed into an incubator which seemingly did the trick, breathing new life into the bird.

It was subsequently taken to a wildlife centre to continue its recovery.

The Instagram post from PAAC read: “I never thought the reason I’d be late for an important meeting with the boss, was because I was ‘blow-drying an owl’ but…. here we are.”
